Description

An investigation into porcelain art and photography, this series stages my porcelain pieces alongside symbolic objects of excess, waste, decay, and mortality. The work reflects on the transience of life, the impermanence of earthly pleasures, and the inevitability of death. Inspired by vanitas still life paintings from the 17th century and the Baroque era, the compositions echo the tradition of memento mori art, where carefully arranged objects create the illusion of permanence while serving as reminders of fragility, futility, and decay. This body of work connects contemporary porcelain sculpture with the historic language of vanitas still life, exploring themes of death, impermanence, and the passage of time.
